30 Acres of Himalayan Jungle · Four Private Rooms · Grown Here, Eaten Here
Namaste from Satvik Jungle Farms — 30 acres of organic permaculture tucked into the forested hills of Kolbong, in the Darjeeling district of the Eastern Himalayas. We're a small family farm and slow-living homestead, growing our food the way these hills always have: with the seasons, with the soil, and without anything synthetic.
This isn't a manicured resort. It's a working jungle farm — fruit trees, a fish pond, cattle and goats, birdsong, mist moving through the valley, and the kind of quiet that takes a few days to settle into your bones.
Every day at Satvik moves with the rhythm of the land — mist in the morning, birdsong instead of alarms, evenings that are entirely your own.
Walk the layers — guava, avocado, peach overhead; bananas and passion fruit below. Learn how a forest feeds you.
Our chef specialises in North Eastern Indian cuisine — ingredients picked that morning, recipes you won't find anywhere else.
Barefoot trails, morning yoga, and silence under the Himalayan canopy. The kind of rest that actually restores.
Far above the valley haze, our skies are thick with stars. Evenings here are worth staying up for.
Our food forest spans the full hillside — tropical and temperate crops growing side by side on the same microclimate, fed by gravity channels drawn from our own stream.
Breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner — all made fresh from the farm. Just bring yourself.
A diverse food forest in layers — fruit trees overhead, bananas below, passion fruit climbing through. Our closed-loop system uses cattle and goat manure for compost, gravity-fed stream channels for water, and saved seeds to preserve heirloom varieties. Nothing synthetic. Nothing imported. Just soil, sun, and generations of knowledge.
Tropical and temperate crops growing side by side on the same Himalayan hillside.
Cattle, goats, and fish pond feed our compost cycle. Almost nothing comes in from outside.
Gravity-fed channels from our stream, terraced ditches, and a fish pond that feeds the crops.
We grow with the ecosystem — companion planting, zero chemicals, food left for the birds.
Mist in the morning. Birdsong instead of alarms. The steadying feeling of having lived close to the earth, even for a little while.

We open the farm to a small number of volunteers each season — travellers who want to trade the rush of the road for the rhythm of the land. A few hours of help each day, in exchange for a home, three meals from the forest, and something the modern world has mostly forgotten.
Four rooms, limited spaces. We keep numbers small so every guest feels the farm fully — not as a backdrop, but as home.
